Once upon a time there was a bird trapper (Hindi : baheliya) who made his living by trapping birds from the forest and selling them as pets.
One day as he sat under a tree, a new kind of bird , of a type that he had never heard or seen came and perched on one of the branches.
As the baheliya wondered what it was, the bird made a dropping on his hands. "Shit", said the bird catcher to himself and was about to clean it up when he saw that the dropping was actually a drop of gold!
Pleasantly surprised, he tried to catch the bird and managed to do so with his matured bird catching skills and trapped the bird inside a cage.
The bird trapper began to wonder : If I were to keep this bird to myself, it would give droppings of gold and make me super rich. The King might come to know about it and get me arrested. So better to take the bird as a gift to the King himself and to get some reward in return.
So thinking, he took the caged bird to the King and told him about the special quality of the bird. The King did not believe him, neither did the bird make any droppings in his presence.
Meanwhile, some of the family members of the King, his children etc wanted to play with the bird and they released the bird from the cage. The bird started jumping here and there in the palace, and finally perched on a window. Suddenly, it made droppings and the King saw that it was pure gold! Shocked, the King ordered that the bird be caught immediately , the bird, however, flew away and was never caught.
The bird catcher had to leave for his home without a penny of reward. He had lost everything he had achieved.
Moral : If you find a golden bird (a golden idea) , don't share it with those who cannot appreciate it.
